Action Alert: Join us at the July 20 Council Meeting

We know you care about Greenville County and the future of iconic and beautiful places, and make sure you had a chance to read this op-ed by Greenville for Greenspace coalition co-chair, Minor Shaw published yesterday in the Greenville News.

In her article, Ms. Shaw makes the critically important point that investing in the Greenville Historic and Natural Resources Trust is vital to meet the demands our area is facing for recreation, greenspace equity, and quality of life as growth continues.

She too is surprised that Greenville County Council recently approved the fiscal year 2021-2022 $319 million budget without any money included for the Greenville County Historic and Natural Resources Trust.

But there is good news. We have one more chance to ask Greenville County Council to reconsider their vote at next week's Greenville County Council meeting.

We need to pack the meeting room with people — you, your neighbors, your friends, and anyone who cares about historic and natural resources in Greenville County.

Please join us in person in Council Chambers (301 University Ridge) on Tuesday, July 20 at 6:00 p.m. and pick up your green sign to show your support for funding the Trust at the meeting. RSVP here so we can keep you in the loop on the latest developments and any additional steps you can take to help secure funding for this critical program.

Late last year, Greenville County Council unanimously approved an ordinance establishing the Trust and appointed a 12-member Board that has met repeatedly in preparation for getting to work. Without funding, the Board will be left with the impossible task of protecting special historical and natural places in Greenville County without any funding.

Please join us on Tuesday to show your support for the Greenville County Historic and Natural Resources Trust and share this email with other people who care about the future of Greenville's green spaces and historical resources to help us spread the word.

Thank you and see you on Tuesday.
